Bedding Terminology
Twin Size Bed– 3/3, 39x75, kids beds, bunk beds, daybeds comprise large quantity of promotional bed sales.
Full Size Bed – 4/6, 54x75 also known as a double.
Queen Size Bed– 5/0, 60x80 most popular bedding size, especially for couples.
King Size Bed – 6/6, 76x80 largest bedding size available
California King Size Bed– 6/0 72x84 often construed to be largest size. Quite often a water bed size.
Mattress Set – Consists of a mattress and box spring.
Complete Bed – Consists of a headboard and footboard and framing system.
Low Profile Box – 4 to 5 inches shorter than a traditional box spring.
Split Boxes – Box spring is divided into 2 separate pieces so that they can be easily moved into homes.
Mattress Protector – Keeps mattresses stain free and protects warranty
Memory Foam/Visco Foam – Also known as Swedish foam. Relieves pressure point for more restful sleep.
Alternative Bedding – Any bed not made with coils. Usually foam, air or water.
Promotional Mattresses – Beds designed for budget pricing will last 5-7 years and usually purchased for kids, guest rooms and short term use.
Premium Mattresses – Product designed to give the best support available for 15-20 years.
Ultra Premium Mattresses – High end mattresses made with the finest materials available.
Edge Support - Located inside of the mattress surrounding the coil system of a mattress to allow for a larger sleeping surface and a firmer sitting surface, it is usually made of a high density foam.
Comfort - Is defined as how the mattress feels when you lie on it
Support - Is defined as how you will feel when you get out of the mattress
